anyone know alot about Zoloft? I was on Cymbalta for a long time and just switched to this today (alot cheaper) and wondered if it makes you gain weight? When I tried to go off Cymbalta b4 I lost 6 pds soon. then when I had to go back on it I gained. Is Zoloft a weight gainer? Thanks!

it depends how much of the medicine you take for you to gain weight.
i take the lowest dosage you can and im doing great!
some people can take it and do great and some people cant take zoloft.

Different antidepressants work for different people.
About 1% of patients (adults) report weight gain while on Zoloft. This does not mean that Zoloft was the cause of the weight gain.
In another study where a placebo was used children on Zoloft lost weight about twice as often then children on the placebo, but only about 2% lost weight. In this study there was not a significant change in the weight of adults on Zoloft or on a placebo.

It's hard to say, different SSRIs (the class of drugs to which both of those belong) react differently in different people, but they can all cause some weight gain, which is usually mild. The only way to tell for sure is to try it out and see if it has any side effects in you.

It just depends on the individual person; I had terrible cravings for carbs on Celexa, but not on Effexor. The best thing you can do is try it for two weeks and see how you feel. If you are having issues, then go back and talk to your doctor.

I have taken Zoloft. It is as useless as breasts on a boar hog.
