I'm having a party and want some ideas to make it more than just your average college party. I dont want it to just be a keg, alot of beer pong and flip cup all night (which is fun but typical) so does anyone have any other fun things in mind?

I have found the essentials to throwing a good party include:

- Beer source (kegs or coolers filled with beer cans)
- Tub of Hairy Buffalo / Jungle Juice
- Gaming table for Beer Pong and Flipcup
- House Stereo System
- LIVE MUSIC (I'm a band that does a lot of parties and this is always a hit)
- Bar Setup (buy some cheap liquor and have someone sell drinks)
- Theme (Toga, 80s, Tropical, etc)
- Good promotion (get the word out)

And above all, the willingness to throw down some money and clean up the wreckage the day after. People will remember your party and become a returning customer.

I been to many different parties and they don't all have to be drinking parties or at lease not drink to the point where all get drunk as then that's no fun.our parties consist of everyone bringing a dish of food they like to make and we have music like playing yourself guitars ,fiddles,or whatever you like.having a few drinks won't hurt anyone if you keep it spaced, having your meal in between will keep drinkers to a sober stage.Than we have fireworks which everyone enjoys.Or have a corn boil or bar-b-q. There is so many different ways to party.I was to one yesterday where everyone just sat around and mingled and talked about good times and a few drinks just to keep people talking about different things in life.A piece of paper with a number onto it giving a prize to the person who eats of that plate or drinks from that cup-glass,or whatever have you.A swimming pool party without liquor which I'll be having plenty in the summer. everything goes for a party. As long as there are foods and drinks liquor or non.It shouldn't matter your the host and what you dish out your invited guest will have to comply or leave.Good Luck.

It's been a long time since I went to a college party, but some I went to were about SOMETHING.

Why not make yours about something?

Have everyone bring a can of food to get in and then bring the "proceeds" to the local food bank.

Or maybe a used book -paperbacks or old texts- to donate to a poor library somewhere, or send to our troops overseas.
(maybe used CD's and DVD's)

A toy for Toys for Tots....

And maybe there are local charities or worthy organizations or individuals that could use some support and/or recognition. A scholarship fund, or a sick child, or some older folks who need a little help.....

A party doesn't always have to mean something, but then, they aren't just for drinking all the time either, are they?

I remember going to a toga party. Everyone dressed in togas.
There was a fountain that was filled with champaigne. And a band was brought in for dancing

toga parties are fun, as are any theme parties, think of something like a decades party or a pornstar and rockstar party.

Fetish / lingerie party.

If the girls are showing up in their skimpies then all the guys will go (so charge them to get in).
