NICE!!!! Now please send us some the the Guinness version please.
Deb, You CAN find Marmite in the US!!! It's Vegemite that the FDA morons made illegal. Look for the *small* jars of Marmite in the UK food part of the ethnic section at whatever version of Kroger or Safeway is in your area.
A better alternative (and cheaper if you use lots of it) is to have your local health food store order it in for you!

Well Marmite's made using the yeast that's a by-product of the brewing process (in fact they re-use the yeast at the brewery several times before shipping off to recycled as that lovely black stuff), so I this Sainsburys Guinness stuff is just going to be made from the yeast left from their brewing process so not suprising that it'd taste pretty similar to the original - I bet the only difference will be the nice price mark-up they'll probably slap on top. Nothing like a good marketing ploy is there.
Also try Marmite in sarnies with:
- grated carrot
- cottage cheese
- cucumber and lettuce
- cheddar cheese
(NB: tomatoes don't seem to work though for some reason)

Guinness Marmite?? Where? I must have some! Haven't tried your other concoction, but I have tried Marmite with peanut butter - yum. I may try the jam thing, but I think I'll wait until I'm really hungry!

THANK GOODNESS I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE ! I actually I like marmite and pineapple jam, much to Mr. GorgeousFluffpot's disgust over the breakfast table. He cannot understand the relationship between sweet and savoury and thinks that my taste buds must have disappeared.
But what is Guinness marmite? Sounds good. Yum.!

Sounds a bit weird to me - Marmite is too savoury/salty to combine it with something sweet. I prefer cheese with it, any sort of cheese will do from Cheddar to cream cheese. But nothing can beat a slice (or 3) of hot buttered toast with Marmite. Mmmmmm!!!!!

It sounds unusual and I don't think I'd enjoy it. I can't stand marmite (sorry). Enjoy it if you like it though and don't let anyone call you sick for eating it !! You might be craving the fruits and the vitamins in the combo.

cant stand the thought of guiness marmite, but the jam / marmite sounds ok.
I love marmite toast, with grated cheese on top, under the grill for 30 sec to melt the cheese, then drop of worcseter sause / chilli sause on top.
yum yum
