By all means speak to your pediatrician about the topic and don't just take our word for it. It appears that several people that have answered this question haven't raised a baby before and just don't have much of a clue.

Your child is probably old enough so that soy consumption shouldn't be a problem, but it certainly wouldn't hurt to wait another few months. That being said, I'm not sure that Boca would be the best choice as it has that large dose of charcoal flavoring in it. Firm tofu might be a better choice on that basis.

Both my kids (and their children) were introduced to soyfoods at the stage your child is in! As I suggested above they were started with *small* amounts of firm tofu and then moved to my homemade soysage and Morningstar Farms Breakfast Patties. And always in small pieces mashed with a little liquid.

None of them ever had any reactions (allergies) to soy.

But *always* see what your doctor thinks! They know your child much better than us netizens.

Sure it can, as in able to, but is it good for a baby? No. Steamed veggies are best as a supplement to continuing to breastfeed. Just steam them and mash them all up. Things like daikkon or radishes are good for that.

I recommend nothing processed until they are 2 or more years. No "adult" foods (highly seasoned, sugar, highly processed etc.) until maybe 8+. That's the way we've done it. Our oldest still does not have many processed foods. The most processed is pasta and whole grain crackers, and once in long awhile some fake meat stuff added into a dish. Otherwise, that's it. No need for it until they are older. White flour or sugar just makes them go bonkers anyway. Besides, they are 'programmed' in childhood and will later gravitate to their childhood food. So, during the teen years when you no longer have much authority over them, they eat all that junk, then in their 20s go back to their childhood diet. It's natural. That's why childhood is so important and not giving into current cultural thinking when it comes to food is of the utmost. That's my two-cents worth.

no not yet wait until its two. until then feed her soup like pea soup, bean soup and veggie soup. Softened veggies and applesauce, something processed or high in salt is bad, and babies don't need nearly as much calories as adults do. So feed small portions.

Also some babies may have soy allergies and its not safe to try out soy foods when their very young.

No, because soy products might be harmful to the baby's system. Soy can be toxic to adults and children. You should feed the child some meat. If you want to be a vegetarian then that is your choice but babies need meat, milk, cheese, vegetables and fruits.

Vegetarian diets and diets are not for kids. Kids need food. Your doctor should tell you these things.

Baby's do NOT need meat to thrive. They need PROTEIN

Basically, You should ask you doctor what the baby needs and if it's OK to try soy or not.

But I believe most people keep their baby to jarred or mushy foods til the baby is one.

It depends on your babies ability, I had no problem feeding soy foods to my son as soon as he started chewing well enough that he wouldn't choke on them. just make sure its in small enough pieces.
