Some hospitals require testing for STD'S it is to protect the baby and the mother, if you refuse they are going to wonder why you are refusing and may look into your case even more. I wanted to be tested it gave me peace of mind that my baby and I were healthy.

I believe you have the right to refuse hun, but I suggest that unless you know for 100% that you dont have any STD's then I would suggest it would be safer to have it done because I read that even in pregnancy most STD's are easy to treat but if left untreated so many can cause miscarriage, stillbirth or birth defects.

they're going to try quickly once you spot your caregiver. There are STDs which could be handed alongside to the child in the event that they are actually not taken care of - so of path. you do no longer ought to make an appt purely for this try. With each physique of my pregnancies, it became an automatic concern, even however i've got been married and we are monogamous. it particularly is in all risk the regulation, being interior the terrific interest of the two mom and infant. you need to make an appt to your 1st prenatal checkup. terrific needs and congrats!

Why would you want to refuse??... If you had something this could harm the child, and no-one never knows if they DEFINATLY dont have anything because Chlymidia can just form in a woman without catching it, and if you have that and give birth it gets in the babys eyes and can make it blind....SO YES GO GET CHECKED OUT!!!

I know in Australia (where I live) you can refuse or accept as many or as few of the prenatal tests as you wish, including the ones for STD's. They may want to know why you don't want to know, but at worst they would treat you as though you had a communicable disease and insist you consider a caesarian birth, or they may deliver your baby fully frocked-up in thick rubber gloves etc, as though you had a blood-borne disease, simply because they don't know for sure that you don't.
Speak to your OB or doctor about your concerns.
best wishes.

You can decline the tests but for your babies sake I would take the tests!
Unless you have something that you dont want anyone else to know about - the baby comes first - it will also assist the doctors should there be any problems during birth and they have to intervene where blood may be passed on to others!
Think about it - baby first!

You are required to get a STD and HIV testing when pregnant. They do this to make sure that no harm is given to the baby. If I was you I would want to be tested just to know if everythings ok with me and my unborn child.

Yes you could refuse any testing you dont want. But wouldnt you rather just be absolutely sure? It doesnt hurt and chances are your insurance covers it so why not just be sure for your babys sake? Some diseases could lie dormant for years and have no symptoms.
