Come to think of it, there are lots of animals that eat other animals! Why???? Don't they have any morality? Why do dogs and cats have to kill other animals for food? I'm sad. :-(

You aren't a devil's advocate, you are presenting a poor argument that obviously has had no research done to support it. You obviously haven't even taken the time to use the 'search' box above to see the other 84000 "questions" just like this one.

Even though I know you are just trying to torment people with childsih antics, I'll give you and answer, as it's the rules.

Cats eat meat because they are obligate carnivores. If they do not have Taurine, which is found in meat, they will die. In the wild, non-domesticated cats hunt for meat and kill only what they need.

Canines are omnivores. They are NOT obligate carnivores, despite what other have said here. They do NOT need meat to survive. Wild canines kill other animals because it is one of the best sources for the nutrients that they need. Canines cannot run out to Safeway and buy Gardenburgers and vitamins to get the proper nutrients. They also kill only what they need.

We, however, have the choice. Meat is not a necessity - it is something that we eat for pleasure. That means that animals are killed for our pleasure and fun. Humans have access to different types of products that supply anything that meat would supply, usually in a healthier and better form. Because we don't *have* to eat meat, one would question the 'humanity' and ethics of taking lives simply for 10 minutes of pleasure.

How bout rather than harassing vegetarians, you put some effort into fighting obesity? Seems it would make more sense to save some lives rather than insult and harass those who already do.

From what I've heard, it has been commonly accepted to only eat animals that are vegetarian by nature. This seems to be true - poultry, cows, pigs, lamb, deer, etc., are all herbivores. Now of course there are exceptions (like bears, for example), but that seems to be the general rule. I don't know if it is because people thought it was "dirty" to eat animals that ate other animals or what, so I couldn't tell you the reasoning behind it.

this agument has come up lots of times. the thing is, it's nature. our common house hold cats are decedents of bigger cats like lions and panthers. those kinds of animals (along with dogs) eat meat because it's naturall and that's all they have to eat. humans, on the other hand, have "free will" and no offince to animales (though, they are very intelegent beings) but there is a reason why humans are the donamant spieces.

because that's nature...humans are the only ones [i think...you can never be sure] who are able to make the decision to go vegetarian/vegan because we are more intelligent, the way humans define intelligent. we are able to make complex decisions. we know better. whereas, to the other animals, eating meat is only natural to them. if there was no meat-eating at ALL in the world, all the species would overpopulate and there would be very little plantlife. i myself would eat meat if we killed the animals in a humane way...unfortunately, companies are only interested in money now ):

The taste or demand for particular kind of food emanates from the habits developed through the environment one grows up in.Crnivores developed that taste when they had no experience of vegetarian food or cooked food. Youfind now-a-days, that cats and dogs fed on Cooked and vegetarian food do not like to go for hunting animal sources of food or even raw fish they used to eat earlier. It is a matter of evolution. It is not fair to expect the moral standards of the vegetarians to be followed by a hungry cat or dog which grew up on raw meat.

Morality is self imposed and subjective. Your dog has a different view of morality.
