I mean circulatory blockage. How much swelling could one expect? Would this be pitting edema?

If it were an artery that is blocked, then your toes or fingers turn pale, first then blue than blakc and fall off. The toes or fingers are cold as well. On walking you will have pain and relieve by resting.

If a vein were blocked, the the leg turned purplish and blue. The toes and fingers or feet or arms, swell.

You need to clarify what you want to ask. Do you mean nerve blockage/damage to your arms or legs? Do you mean your veins are blocked and not getting circulation to your legs, arms? What are your signs and symptoms?

The arm or leg will lose it's color- first whitish, then turn bluish. It will become colder and colder. If you think you may have a blood clot- you would need to go to the emergency room as soon as possible.
