BP can fluctuate between 100/60 and 190/90 and still be "normal"
Optimum BP is 120/80.
Just keep your weight down, don't smoke and cut down on salt.
Do some gentle exercise, say 15 minutes walking every day.

That sounds perfect to me. Usually you keep an eye on the bottom number. To be sure, always ask your gp for advice. Alot of people 50 and over have high/low blood pressure. It is great for you that at aged 60, that you have this reading. I hope that you always have good BP readings.
I am 31 and have high blood pressure for the last 6 years. The only reason I can think why I have this is that it is in my family. I am not a worried or streesed person. My father had it when he was young also. This can be hereditory.
Good luck..

Considering your age and sex, these readings is perfect. Remember that there are standard conditions to fulfil to have figures that can be interpreted :
1.You must be lying flat.
2.the arm must be at the same horizontal level as the heart
3.At your age one may have to take it in both arms .
4You must be in complete physical and psychological rest.
I am pretty sure that the slightly raised systolic pressure is corrected under the above mentioned conditions.
Best Wishes.

As a nurse, given your age I would say its fine.
Are you having any health problems that would cause you to be concerned anout your blood pressure?
The Practice Nurse at your GP surgery probably runs a blood pressure or well woman clinic, why not pop in for a check up?

hey jean, whats normal ?
Whats normal for one person may well not be normal for you ! I'd ask your doc for a quick check over, nothing to worry about as only he will be able to tell you if your BP's ok for you.
Did you take your BP with one of those home machines ? do you weigh 112lbs or 250lbs ? did you have your legs crossed ? was you even talking whilst you had it taken ? so many variables, it worth having it done properly by a nurse or doc see what the professionals have to say.
take care

I'm a nurse. It's a little high. The top number normal ranges is 100 to 140, and the bottom number is 60 to 90. I wouldn't worry too much, it isn't that high. I would see a doctor for some medication.

It's a little high, but not alarming, considering your age. You might want to talk with your doctor though, and maybe take a look at your diet.
