No. These foods contain vital carbohydrates which your body needs to produce the energy required to keep your cells functioning properly. Just cut down on the sweet treats.

Since your question is listed in diabetic questions, I assume you are a diabetic.

I'm a diabetic female on a diabetic diet. I'm' on an exchange diet. I need small portions of carbs.

I can have a slice of 100% whole wheat bread or exchange it for 1/2 cup of rice, potato, pasta, or cereal.

Go on line and subscribe to The American Diabetic Association.

If your not a diabetic, this is still the best diet to keep from being a diabetic type 2. It is well balanced and you will loose weight if you follow it.

You eat every thing in moderation.

I don't eat sugar. I replace it with Splenda.

Hope this is helpful.

Carbs turn to sugar. Point blank. The difference in the type of sugar they turn into. Carbs are needed in our diet and the balance is realizing what is a serving of carbs. 15 grams is considered a serving. Some breads contain almost double this amount. Pasta and rice have much the same problem.
Smarter carbs are plain baked potatoes and other such unprocessed foods.

Are you cutting all carbs?
Rice and pasta are complex sugars, low glycemic index, not like fruit sugar or refined sugar which are simple sugars and spike your blood insulin

No if you eat brown rice or wholewheat pasta. The fiber in them make them good carbs, their absorption slowed by the fiber.
