A human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) test detects antibodies to HIV in the blood. This determines whether an HIV infection is present (HIV-positive). After the original infection, it takes between 2 weeks and 6 months for antibodies to HIV to appear in the blood. During this period, an HIV-infected person can still spread the disease, even though a test will not detect any antibodies in his or her blood.

Oh, YIKES...please tell me you are having protected sex! You can go get tested right away...but the chances of it coming back positive are slim. You will have to keep getting rechecked (can't remember how ofter or how long). HIV can lay dormant for years before showing up.

Is it too much to ask for people to have a little bit of an education regarding sex, STDs and pregnancy before going around and sleeping with the first person that comes along.

HIV infects the blood first. If you were exposed to it, within 2 weeks you get symptoms like a cold, including soreness. Within 1 month - 6 months is usually when they can find it in your blood. In very rare cases, it can take several years to show up, or just lie dormant in your blood forever.

I think it would probably be best to contact your local health unit or a doctor to find this out - It is of a serious nature and you might just get "opinion" answers when what you are looking for is something of higher importance.
Good Luck.
