I know helitits is transmitted thru dirty needles and sharing earings but can you get it from unpretected sex too?

Yes...Refering to hepatitis B, C and D they are transmitted trhough parenteral rout, and vaginal secresions or the semen.
Hepatitis A and Hep. E can be transmitted by the fecal-oral rout.
So, my best advice is to use condoms during sexual intercourse because that diminishes tremendously the posibilities of getting Hepatitis B,Cor D or other sexually transmitted diseases such as HIV.. Remember that Hepatitis B and C can predispose to Liver carcinoma.

The answer is yes. The odds of passing it are lesser than your regular STD's though. Hepatitis C is particularly dangerous but it is transmitted through blood. This means that there has to be some exchange of blood to an open wound or cut or scratch etc. ..If you have a small cut or one is having their period....you get the picture.
