I was taking blood pressure medicine “Bisoprolol” my resting pulse rate was 70. Abruptly stopped taking Bisprolol (Doctor Recommendation) and resting pulse has been 95 to 105 since. Question is: Will my pulse go back to 70?

I understand that going off Bisoprolol abruptly is not recommended, But my doctor said it was no problem. So I’m sitting here feeling like s--- wondering if the doctor was wrong.

These types of drugs should never be stopped abruptly....have you reported these symptoms to your Dr?...if so, and he ignores you, either consult another Dr, or call your local ER for advice....the average normal pulse should run somewhere between 80-100, depending on your fitness level, health, and age, etc....what you have is called Tachycardia (rapid heart rate)....good luck!

Doctors.(smile) I know some of them don't care, u really have to tell the doctors what should be done. You shouldn't just stop your medicine u have wean off it.Wean your self. If u take 100mg. Take it 100mg (for a week) Drop, take 50 mg(for a week) 25mg for(5days) than u have to break the medicine in half(25mg) That's how u have to do it. Than your heart rate should turn back to normal.Doctors these times they really don't care bout people.Yes that's why your pulse rate is up that's a beta blocker. Tell u truth ,please wean off that. I don't want u to pick me as a best answer but. You could have a heart attack. Go to yahoo and type in your medication. I'm on metoprolol and I have to wean off it before stopping. Call your pharmacy they will tell you. If u don't believe me

Did your doctor put you on a different BP med? Have you talked to him about your pulse rate? What is your BP now? You NEED to call your doctor Today and ask him your questions. Promise me you will do this! I don't want to frighten you, but your pulse increase is of concern, and I am also concerned about your BP.

On what grounds did the doctor placed you on a Beta Blocker, ABRUPT withdrawl is never recommended, Already you are having a increase cardiac rate, weaning off was done in a curious fashion!!
Pl. consult another cardiologist.
