There is an awesome free site that will assist anyone in tracking calories, carbs, etc. I am a diabetic and need to lose weight. I have found this very valuable. They have a program you can purchase for $20, but the free program has plenty to offer for me. www.fitday.com You can even enter "custom foods" and input the info from the label and it will calculate daily totals and such.
One slice of white bread can have 13-20 grams of carbs, depending on the brand and ingredients.
Regular white rice, 1 cup, has about 44 grams of carbs!
All items vary, so I find it's best to always read the labels.
Peace be with you!

I am writing to tell you what an incredible impact these methods had on my life! I have had type 2 diabetes for 27 years. For me, the worst part of this horrible disease is the severe pain I constantly get in my feet. The pain is so bad that I avoid standing and walking as much as possible. I've got to tell you that within the first month, my feet stopped hurting altogether and I can now walk totally pain free.
Believe it or not, I even danced at my niece's wedding last month, something I have not done in a many years. I've been following the book for six months now and my blood sugar is well within normal range. I feel great!
I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

Need to read a book on the Glycemic Index -
both rice and bread are very high - which means the carbs go quickly into your system - and crash quickly also
better to get low to medium glycemic carbs - they help 'smooth' that line out - much better for diabetics

You can eat as much as you want. You need to cover the carbs.
Most grocery stores have little books at the check out that give nutrition facts.A good buy that I highly suggest.
