THE DIABETES WERE RECOMENDED TO HAVE SNACKS BETWEEN MEALS IN ORDER NOT TO HAVE HIPOGLYCEMIA. NOW WITH LANTUS AS BASELINE AND HUMALOG FOR COVERING THE MEALS .IS IT ADVISEABLE TO AVOID SNACKS AND HAVE 3 MAIN MEALS BREAKFAST,LAUNCH AND DINNER?

with that combo of insulin you should not go more then 3 hours wityh out food. That is during the day when you are active

Lantus is a long acting insulin which is usually given once daily. The most important snack for a diabetic is the bedtime snack because between supper and breakfast is the longest stretch between meals so it is essential for you to have you bedtime snack in order to prevent your blood sugar from going too low. Since the Lantus is so long acting it is still working in your body even after you go to sleep at night. You are right in giving your injections separately. Lantus should never be mixed with any other insulin. Other insulins can be mixed together but never Lantus.

Your pharmacist should be able to answer this question on the phone. However, it would probably be best to call your physician and ask the nurse for the most accurate advice. Diabetes is too serious to trust answers from yahoo.

You should always eat your snacks unless your sugars are too high than skip, but if they are normal than you should eat it because your snacks are an important part of your diet.
