Diabetes causes high blood sugar, not low. The most common reason why diabetics will have low blood sugar is because of the treatment for the disease, not the disease itself, so if your problem is with low blood sugar, it is not suggestive of diabetes. If you fasting glucose (after 8 hours of not eating, most commonly tested first thing in the morning before breakfast) is elevated (above 126) then you might have diabetes as well as whatever is causing your blood sugar to drop, but low blood sugar is not a sign of untreated diabetes.

It is surprising that you are having this problem for a long time and not consulted a physician yet. Low blood sugars especially when it requires eating every 2-3 hrs to sustain normal levels could be because of disorders of carbohydrate metabolism majority of which are genetic/hereditary. Majority of these would manifest in early years. Get yourself diagnosed at the earliest to ward off possibility of any untoward incident related to hypoglycemia. All the best.

If you think you may have diabetes then you need to see a doctor. Low or high that's very serious stuff and you don't play around with it. A doctor can do simple blood test and get you all the right answers and help you with the right eating plan. My mom died from diabetes.

Talk to your dr. He will be able to tell you where your blood sugar level should be. Also diabetes left untreated can be very serious.

yes because diabetes is very hard to control .you should get back with your doctor and possibly have them change your dosage to get it so your test numbers are between 80-120 then you wont have to eat but bout every 6 to 8 hours.

I read a terrific book called "Eat to Live" by Dr. Joel Fuhrman and he recommends supervised fasting and then a dietary change to overcome glycemic disorders and diabetes.
