In a formal table setting, where does the wine glass go?

Also, where does the water glass go? I know about the plates, salad bowl, and silverware. But I have never been certain of the glass placement.

Just above and to the right of your knife and spoon on the upper right side of the place setting. If you have a water glass too, that goes above the knife and spoon and then the wine glass goes to the right (and down a bit) of the water glass. Don't crowd things up around the plate either.

The beverage glasses are placed at the top of the plate(think 12 oclock ), the water glass is first then your wine glasses.

You put the wine glass at the tip of the knife at your right hand side. If you are going to serve white wine with fish then red wine with meat, you put the white wine glass at the tip of the knife, then next to it towards the center of the plate you put the red wine glass. Next to it at the center of the plate you put the water glass. In case of one kind of wine just skip one wine glass.
