Actually, lots of churches have functions. Doesn't sound like fun, I know, but I think I'd rather do that than be with a bunch of people drinking too much!

Not sure why soooooooooooo many people feel New Years Eve is all about drinking yourself into a stupor !!??

Been there done that when I was a kid. As an adult I prefer to have fun knowing what the hell I am doing. My family gets together and we play numerous card games and have a white elephant gift exchange. We have soooooooooo dang much fun and NO alcohol. Finger foods & grape juice champaigne make an evening of enchantment!

I have a really good recipe for non-alcohol punch!

FESTIVE PUNCH

1 (12-ounce) can frozen Fruit Punch drink concentrate, thawed
1 (6-ounce) can frozen Orange Juice concentrate, thawed
1 (6-ounce) can frozen Lemonade Concentrate, thawed
2 Liters Ginger Ale
1 quart Orange Sherbet (or you can use Lime, Raspberry or another flavor, if you wish, instead of Orange)

In a large punch bowl, combine the fruit punch, orange juice and lemonade concentrates. Stir until well combined.

Just before serving, add the Ginger Ale and Orange Sherbet and serve.

You can garnish the top with lemon and/or orange slices, if desired, to give it a festive look.

most places have fireworks and celebrations. if you are staying at home you can enjoy some sparkling cider or my personal favorite -- put a cup and 1/2 of grape juice in a bottle of ginger ale or other mixer. its an italian kids drink made with spumante usually but the ginger ale give it a kick and a lot less of a hangover.

Invite your friends over and make 'mocktails'. Mocktails are non-alcoholic drinks. Here is a link to a site with some recipes -- http://www.healthunit.on.ca/mocktails/ If you don't like those, just put 'mocktail recipe' in a search engine and find ones you do. Have fun!

Have a last-minute party of your own. Ask people to bring snacks, games and music. Serve sparkling cider in champagne glasses. Have fun!

What about going to see something drop? Like Times Square drops the ball? I think just about every town drops something.
