Once she recovers from the heart attack she will need to have tests done to see if she still has heart muscle at risk. If so, she may need a stent or bypass.

Her level of functioning will be determined by how much heart muscle was lost from the heart attack she had.

Cardiac rehabilitation is an important part of her recovery.

Good luck to both of you.

Now that your mother and her doctors are aware of the heart problems and plavix has been started. You should have every reason to be optimistic. My father has had 8 heart attacks, a quad bypass, and finally 13 years ago a heart transplant. Last year he had bypass on his new heart and right now is in congestive heart failure. And guess what he is doing today w/ the help of meds...playing 18 holes of golf. I know it's scary when someone you love has a heart attack but it seems as if they have caught your mothers early enough to stop any further muscle damage. Good luck and try to keep her spirits up. She will be fine.

Plavix can definitely help her, and she may need to consider bypass surgery to clear out the other artery. She is guaranteed to have better heart function that way.

I think with care and medication she will be OK in few weeks. But longterm you may want to quickly consider Surgery options to clear her clogged artery. May be Angioplasty, Bypass or minimally invasive options to help her get back to normal. Depending on her current heart function cardiologists should be able to help you consider other options.

Good luck and keep faith everything will be alright.
