HIV is spread through semen, vaginal fluid, blood, and breast milk. That's it. Spit is not an option. However, if there are open cuts/sores in your mouths when you're kissing, there is a possibility that the virus can enter your bloodstream (just the same as it would if a man or woman performed unprotected oral sex on an HIV-infected partner if they had even a tiny cut in their mouth).
Get tested, use condoms, and honestly discuss your sexual past with your partner before you have sex.

Theoretically I suppose it could happen. But unless both mouth ulcers were bleeding the chances of it happening would be astronomical.
Saliva carries antibodies but does NOT carry HIV so there would have to be direct blood contact.

No. You'd have to drink a gallon of infected saliva for just a Chance at contracting HIV. Be worried about blood, seminal or vaginal fluids.

Saliva contains a negligible amount of the virus, so my understanding is that, yes, its possible, but you'd probably have to get together a humoungous quantity of it to contract HIV from saliva alone, and I'm talking buckets and buckets. Probably, its not worth worrying about.

HIV can be transmitted by spit and other mucus, however there is a greater chance of transmission thru blood. So, yes to your question, however chances are slim, but i would still advise against it.
