Usually people are advised to take 2 to 3 days off, but this really depends on what your job is. If it is something very active with lots of bending and lifting, definitely longer, but your doctor needs to be the one to make that determination. The reason for the restriction is mainly because the way the STENT is put in. The doctors put a special IV in the femoral artery to access the heart. The activity restrictions are because when they pull the IV out of the artery after the procedure, the clot that forms needs time to heal. All the bending, lifting, or other vigorous activity increases the risk for bleeding, either internal or external. Bottom line: ask your doctor! Hope this helps.

I think it would depend on what your condition is that caused you to have stents put in. Like if your having trouble breathing it takes ample time to build up endurance. Normally when they put one in you, to recover takes about 24 hours. What really hurts is where the incision is made after they move you into recovery they have to apply pressure for about an hour. I would ask for for pain med as after you have the meds, it's another 4 hours or 6 hours before the next dose and you will be hurting. You will have a good idea what you are capable of after you are up and moving around.24 hours is standard amount of time for non complaicated cases

Yes. depends on what can of work do you do. Normal office work, after 3 days you should be fine to go back to work. Work using muscles, 1 week after the stenting is done.

As opposed to bedrest for the rest of your life?
Sure thing, you can go back to work, you can pretty much go back to doing what you did before (not all immediately, but your doctor can tell you exactly what you shuld be doing and when).
