I like a buffet of fresh, homemade munchies

A quick spinach dip. Just 1 container on frozen spinach, 1 container sour cream, 1 package dried veggie soup and 1 large clove of garlic minced. Best if made the night prior.

Then some sourdough bread, cut into dip-sized slice, dab with a little olive oil and bake at 375 for 12 minutes. These are perfect with dip.

Shrimp dip: 10 oz tiny shrimp cooked (canned or fresh), 1 tblsp Worcestershire, 2 tblsp lemon juice, 1 tblsp garlic salt, 1 package cream cheese. Chilled

I also always have an assortment of veggies and fruit with freshly make ranch and whipped cream respectively.

Make a big pot of shrimp etouffee (or red beans and rice with sausage) and another big pot of par boiled rice. Keep the pots warm on the stove. Put a basket of corn muffins and paper plates and bowls on the counter next to the stove. People can serve themselves buffet style as they come and go. Fix it and forget it!

Serve hurricane punch from a punch bowl and put out sliced key lime pie for dessert!

Make sure you have some awesome appetizer that will put a smile on everyone's faces. Have several main dishes, meat, potatoes, and maybe something from your culture or your secret recipe. (That way people will want to go to your house more often!) Mix some drinks that will really hit the spot! For details, watch the Food Channel! I love♥ that station!
Hope I helped! ;)

One day before, mix a packet of dry Italian dressing mix with 16oz of sour cream. Then cut up some carrot sticks, celery, mushrooms and cherry tomatoes. I never have a party without this, everyone loves it.

Definately appetizer type things. Fruit tray, veggie tray, finger sandwiches, chips, etc. Most people won't expect you to go all out, so just make something they can snack on, and make sure you have enough for all night.
