My family is famous for spilling these things in cars, as this is the "pot luck" season, I have been asked to bring in a dish. Are there any products out there for travelling, I haven't been able to find one.

You have a couple of options.

Get a big tupperware container or another pot that is big enough to hold the contents of the crockpot and use that container while driving. You can pour it back into the crockpot at your destination.

Otherwise, just wedge it in really well and use a rubber band or tape to try and hold the lid closed.

Hi there; have you tried going to some of your specialty stores that carry kitchen items; sometimes you can find items that are made just for transporting food and if this doesn't work for you try not too fill the crock pot as full and place a bungee cord across the top and hook the cord together under the crock pot; then place this on the floor with a towel around it..You can also use a cooler; just place the crock(make sure that there is some kind of support to keep the crock up) into the cooler and what ever else goes with the crock and close the lid to the cooler. If there is any spills they will be contained..The cooler also makes a great way to transport hot food; just heat up some bricks and wrap them in towels, place on the bottom of the cooler and place the food on top then closed the cooler lid..I have done this and found that it worked real well for me..Good Luck and Happy Holidays

Dont fill the crockpot until you get to your destination. Since you cannot plug it in until you get there keep the food in a container, ziplock bags or something like that. Then when you get to your destination fill the crock pot and turn it on.
I know someone who brought beef stew in his car and it spilled all over. Even with the detailing, it still reaks of rotten stew on a hot day!

Place the food in a Ziploc freezer bag, and place the Ziploc bag in the crock pot for traveling. When you get to your destination, all you need to do is cut the bag at the bottom to empty in the crock pot for heating up. Good Luck and happy eating!

find a box or laundry basket that is only slightly larger than the crockpot and line it with old bath towels. Put your crockpot inside it and put the box on the floorboard or trunk of car, hopefully wedged against something heavy so it can't slide.

I put the crock in the front on the passenger side. I cover the top with three layers of tin foil, then put on the cover.
Wedge it in well with sandbags or grocery sacks filled with newspapers. Keep well below the speed limit and at least 5 to ten car lengths behind other cars so you don't have to smack on the brakes.
I like to plug it in under my desk and drive everyone nuts with the good odors!
Enjoy your potlucks!

They sell crockpots and casseroles that have their own carrying cases. But, you could just use masking tape around the crockpot to keep the cover on. Then I wrap it in newspaper and tape again. The newspaper keeps the heat in while you transport it and helps to keep the lid on. Put it on the floor passenger side while you drive, less area for it to slide around.

If you want to buy something check at wal-mart, Ihave seen ones that latch the lid and have special travel bag.
If you don't want to buy, I have let it cool off put it in a plastic bag seal it and use a bungee to secure the lid, then put it in another bag sitting on a towel to even the surface. DON'T DRIVE CRAZY.
Hope this helps.
Happy eating season!

Place the crockpot into a 9X13 pan or smaller if it will fit, place on front seat, and buckle it in with the seat belt. Slow down a little when making turns. You'll be fine.
