It is commonly accepted that the AIDS originated in an African monkey. Because they interacted with other monkeys, the virus spread. Eventually the virus jumped from an infected monkey to a human. Because it crossed the species barrier, it was able to mutate into different versions, and that is what is around today. Because it can mutate, it is very hard to deal with. That is why they haven't found a cure.

Many diseases are being caused by the destruction of the earth at a very fast rate. New bacteria and viruses appear as a result--which were usually localized within a specific area and never escaped before. Before humans have a time to adapt, the damage is done. A long time ago, adaptations were done slowly. However, this did not help Natives in Canada and US with TB (when settlers first came to the US and infected the deadly TB with the natives)

No one ever proved they had sex with monkeys it could have been through a cut.
