I suggest that you leave her upright if it makes her feel more comfortable. Tilting her head could possibly suffocate her, if not make her more uncomfortable. This is because the tongue might fall back into the throat. Sitting her upright will help her expel the mucus that is probably causing her cough. But any position that makes her comfortable is good.

I would keep her as upright as possible while she sleeps. extra pillows to raise her head if shes old enough for pillows otherwise a poliiw under her cot mattress to raise that end. You can also try a childrens cough syryp..tixylix is very good and if you have central heating on keep a bowl of water in the room as it can dry out tha air and making coughs worse. hope shes feeling better soon.

Leave her where she is. Next time you put her to bed, try a tilted posture, it will help phlegm stop collecting in her lungs.. You could put a few drops of lavender in a bowl of hot water in her room, somewhere safe, or put the bowl on any radiators you have heating the room.
Hope her cough improves soon.

If she's just sitting there and dozed off, she'll relax even more and could fall over. If she's reclined a little bit she'll still be comfortable but won't flop around!

Prop her up with a wedge pillow. Try a humidifier and vapor rub if you aren't using them already.
