Yes. It is a struggle but it happens. The procedure is called pneumonectomy.

There are more than one reason a person would have a pneumonectomy. But a common one is Lung Cancer.

Lung cancer is difficult to treat and they will remove a lung to prevent the cancer from spreading. Sometimes they can remove a portion of a lung too. This is called a wedge resection or segmentectomy

I have met many people who had cancer and had to have a lung removed. It was mostly a precursor to a long struggle with the disease that would eventually take their life. (Survival rates after 5 year is 14%)

Unfortunately many times, both lungs are damaged and you definitely can't survive if they remove both.

Yes.it is possible to live with only one lung.
However immediately after one lung is removed, the body will show some degenerating changes followed by adaptive changes.
Your heart and some other organs will have to adjust their work.
If you suffer from heart ailments, then its very difficuilt.

Not sure. I urge you and all others that such questions which can effect someone's life or existence, should be put forward to the subject matter experts like docotrs for best opinion. you cant depend on this site for exact answers. there maybe further complications than a simple YES.

you should check with a Pulmonologist

if i am an illiterate then definitely i would say NO but in case of a student of science i would like to state some disorders that i think may be there.the one is that the blood carries a specific amount of oxygen and it is possible because of the lungs. in case of one lung it will be difficult for blood to take that much amount of oxygen. due to which hypoxia may be produced at tissue level and can also cause sever anemia and also it is possible that the brain cells may not receive much oxygen and a loss of function of brain cells or some of its parts.therefore if you may be able to live but will suffer more and will be susceptible to more problems of health
