My Heart doctor wants me to consult with a hospital dietition to develop a low cholesterol regimen that I can live with. I have an active lifestyle, must eat many meals in restaurants, am taking Niaspan and a statin, but the LDL is still too high. I have 2 stents in cardiac arteries, so I think the consult is medically necessary, but the bureaucracy often sees things differently. The Dr. has given me the orders on a prescription form. Will Medicare pay?
