Ok, I'm not a vegetarian or vegan, but I do try to eat things that aren't really bad for me. A couple of times my wife bought veggie dogs for my son and I tried them and more than once I wound up with a splitting headache. Why?

I'm not allergic to soy, as I use soy protein in smoothies I make.

They probably contain MSG otherwise known as Monosodiumglutamates. This stuff causes many people to have headaches. It is used as a preservative. Check the package next time and see if they contain MSG.

There is probably some soya oil used in the cooking of the vegetarian item in the hot dog, and you are allergic to soya.

Like my wife, you may have an allergy to the soy that is in the hotdog.

What brand? I know that morningstar farms veggie dogs are more wheat gluten then anything. Maybe you have a sensitivity to wheat gluten.

I don't know. But just the thought makes me sick to my stomach. Stick with what our fore- fathers met hot dogs to be (great taste with all of the junk)
