I got a chest cold at the beginning of Sept, I have not been able to shake the cough much, some days I seem to cough up alot of mucus and it is clear. My sinus's have not totally cleared either. I just haven't felt that great kind of dragging. Well it's december now, and I feel like my chest is starting to hurt again, my throat is irritated and it feels like I have a lump or something in my throat once in a while, I feel really crappy today.
3 months of this can't possibly be normal. I do smoke but I just went out today and bought the patch cause I can't take this anymore. Can someone please shed some light on this for me.

I am 33 and smoke a pack a day, I know not good, but very difficult to quit, never thought I would still be smoking at this age.

Unfortunately some problems may be assessed only by an examination and in your case listening to your lungs would likely yield the diagnosis. You did not give your age or how much you smoke so it is possible that you have obstructive lung disease or that your smoking has aggravated underlying asthma. You may have had an infection that did not completely clear and it certainly sounds as if you have an infection at present. I am pleased that you are trying to quit smoking but a trip to your doctor and a prescription for an antibiotic are likely what you need in the short run. Good luck.

you sound like you need antiboitics... sounds like you have bronchitis and a sinus infection! Only way to rid this and becare you don't tear down your own immune system. Double your vit. C daily for two weeks and eat plain yogurt three times a day for 2 weeks to help you build your own immune system!
