I take Singular 10 mg daily, and have a max air inhaler, which is efficient for a little while during swimming, but not enough. I have a month until I see my asthma doctor, and I want a little advice now. Any suggestions on breathing techniques, or procedures that will really help my asthma?

Have you tried Proventil or Albuterol? That's what I use. I've wanted to be on a pill for a long time, but the doctor won't put me on it. I've had Asthma since I was a baby and also have a breathing machine at home. The best thing to do is when you start to feel wheezy or it's hard to breathe, don't freak out. Take slow breaths and get up and walk around. That always helps me. My attacks usually come during the night, so when you wake up not able to breathe, it's kind of scary. I've heard that caffeine helps but I haven't found that helpfull for me. Another thing that helps are allergy pills. I used to take benedryl every night before I went to bed. It keeps the swelling down.

Im sure the smoking helped the asthma develops but it may not be just that alone that triggered it. I fyou live in cities or around a high-traffic area, fumes from the cars and polution may have contributed to it too.
