I was vegetarian for over 8 years. Make sure that you get plenty of protein--soy beans, tofu, lentils and brown rice, etc. If you eat dairy, an egg or two every other day, or egg whites every day help. Balance protein, carbs and fat.
Eat a wide variety of green leafy veggies and fruit (apples and tangerines this time of year are the best).
Make sure that you limit your carbs to complex carbs (I, and many other vegetarians) have trouble with body fat on high-carb vegetarian diets.
Get enough good fat (olive oil, peanut oil, omega 3 fatty acids) in your diet. You need fat to properly convert amino acids into protein to make muscle. If you don't have enough fat in your diet you'll be in trouble, eventually.
Exercise regularly, and stretch often. Enjoy your new diet, and look for tasty foods in stores like Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, Wild Oats, and the like.

Vegetarianism is not in the slightest bit tricky! I've been veggie for over a year and my mum (who's 66) has been vegetarian all her life. She can still walk several miles a day!
Diet wise just make sure you eat enough wholegrains, lentils, beans, chickpeas, nuts, seeds, fruit and veg everyday and your body will take care of itself. I don't eat dairy or eggs either and I haven't dropped dead yet! Meat may be commonplace but that doesn't mean we can't live without it - nothing is further from the truth. If you google search a vegetarian diet you will find a lot of recipe ideas on the net, and obviously getting a good recipe book from your library will help start you off too. Good luck!

My little brother is. I would recomend getting lots of protein or you will get VERY sick. Veggie burgers, corndogs, chicken patties, etc. are a good idea, but also eat eggs, beans, nuts, and things like that with proteins. You could also take some extra vitamins just to make sure you get your proper nutrition so you dont end up getting sick
