A heart attack is an acute condition caused by a thrombus (a blood clot) occluding (or blocking) one of the vessels supplying the heart muscle. This results in severe pain usually radiating down the left arm but may be referred to the neck or jaw. The Normal treatment would be additional oxygen, an anticoagulant and perhaps an enzyme that helps to dissolve the clot. Of course because of the severity of pain, morphine or demerol is usually used to both relax the patient and mitigate the pain. It is customary to use an intravenous solution drip to administer medications but also as a ready pathway if a further attach occurs. This is called a myocardial infarction.
Heart failure is the inability of the heart to circulate blood over distal areas and causes a pooling of blood with concomitent swelling of extremities. The small valves within the veins have lost their integrity and are no longer able to assist the heart in the upward movement of the blood. Drugs such as digitalis are used to slow down and strengthen the heart beat but such patients are usually treated with bed rest and elevation of the legs, elastic wraps and diuretics to reduce fluids. This is preventable by moderate exercise but once condition is established it is an up-down course with the circulatory system slowly becoming dysfunctional.

A heart attack (myocardial infarction) occurs when an area of heart muscle dies or is permanently damaged because of an inadequate supply of oxygen to that area.
Heart failure, also called congestive heart failure, is a life-threatening condition in which the heart can no longer pump enough blood to the rest of the body.
In other words, the heart attack occurs to a normal person due to diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, smoking etc.
Heart failure occurs to a person who has cardiac symptoms such as pedal edema, shortness of breath and cardiac asthma etc.
Please see the webpages for more details on Heart attack and Heart failure.

A heart attack implies 'death' of a portion of the muscle of the heart due to an interruption in blood flow. Heart failure is a functional disorder of the heart muscle. We have made excellent progress in the prevention and treatment of heart attacks but heart failure is increasingly common. The mortality rate in those with heart failure approaches that of some cancers.

A heart attack is when a part of the cardiac muscle dies from lack of blood supply. This can be caused by a clot in the arteries that feed the heart or plaque buildup in the arteries. Heart failure is where the heart is unable to pump enough blood to meet the demands of the body. It can be caused by a lot of things including a heart attack but also high blood pressure, congenital heart defects and so on.

The soul, in today's sense as an essense incased in the body, doesn't exist. Atleast there is no good reason to believe it does. You can't see it, you can't feel it, heck you can't even really explain what it is. In the Greek days aristotle used the word soul to describe how a being acts. Plants had a nutritive soul, animals had a soul that was nutritive and sensory, while humans had a soul which was the two but included rationality. It wasn't till monotheism came around that it's definition changed. Now a days we use soul as a way to explain our identity or consciousness. Something science even has difficulty understanding. So if science can't tell you, an average person sure as hell can't tell you.

To keep it short and simple, a heart attack is an acute condition, it just happens to a person and with correct treatment gets over. A heart failure is a chronic condition where the heart fails to function properly.

Well you see the formality in which most common forms of the heart and other contractural organs are substantiated are not always concurrent within the apperatus "the body" that they are associated with. The conglomorate thus far for most studies of the sesquential subject are negative.
