The cardiology team at the hospital will provide diet booklets, as will her GP - just ask, also check out the British Heart Foundation @ www.bhf.org.uk and nhs direct.
The hospital team will want her to under go a period of rehab, which should include advice from the dietitian. Also her GP will probably want to put her on "Statins" and should discuss her diet and lifestyle with her.
Basically its common sense, trash the high fat foods and replace with healthier alternatives, increase fruit & veg, don't go for too many ready meals (can have high salt levels).

There are several suggestions. See a nutritionist. Do you have a Heart Foundation where you live? There are lots of books written to do with health recipes. TRY your local library because they would stock books on heart recipes. Good luck.

try to cut red meat out of her diet. u can get really good meat substitutes these days - like quorn mince for making spag bol, shepherds pie and chili with. just use your normal recipes, but swap meat for quorn. i know plenty of people who are not vegetarian, but use quorn because it's healthier. also try getting that benecol spread, and use it instead of butter. it's known to help reduce cholesterol, which has to be a good thing ! a lot of the time u really don't have to change the meals u are cooking, just try to substitute the higher fat ingredients for lower fat ones. also, garlic is also very good for the heart, so is fish.
