The importance of meal planning means that everything has been thought out thoroughly. Meal planning gives you a detailed idea of:
1. Who will be eating
2. Everybodys Likes and Dislikes
3. Food Allergies
4. Health concerns (diabetes, hypertension, cholesterol)
5. Ingredients needed for each dish
6. The amount of time it will take to prepare each dish.
7. The quantity of food needed (God forbid there is not enough food for everyone)
8. The cost of supplies needed for creating this meal (let's face it, times are hard and we are all working on a budget)
You see meal planning covers all of those things and maybe even more. Meal planning makes everything a lot easier, and keeps everybody happy, especially you. If you don't do meal planning, you can and most of the time will, waste time and money. Be honest, nobody wants to do that.

Depending how tall you are, you might actually be underweight, so gaining weight might be something to ask your doctor about. But, to maintain your weight just eat in a healthy way without increasing your caloric intake. Grains, fruits and veggies and calcium are best. Don't deprieve yourself of things you like to eat, just make them healthier. For example, instead of eating pizza with pepperoni, have a slice with peppers, onions and mushrooms.
