Ok the Boyfriend and I just bought our very first Gingerbread House since we first moved in...so When should we put it together, and display it in our living room, and how long can it keep for in this enviroment, and will it still be edible after a long period of time? THANKS!

i visit be making a ginger breadhouse with my son on December fifteenth and leaving it up until an afternoon or 2 after Christmas. I stay in a community the place the humidity isn't extreme interior the iciness. So the gingerbread abode and each and all of the decorations stay o.k.. even if i'm uncertain how nicely or long it may stay in a community that has extreme humidity. Sugar and humidity do no longer blend.

You can make it anytime now, but most people don't actually eat them, They're too pretty!!! I have never made one because gingerbread is my favorite cookie, and it wouldn't last a single day! If you want to eat it, it will taste good if you use a recipe, if you use a kit, it may be bland...maybe not. Don't expect it to last longer than any other frosted cookie left out.

Generally, a gingerbread house is made for looks, not consumption. So long as you make a frosting for it that doesn't contain milk, butter, or raw eggs you will be pretty safe eating it.

I always make mine the first week in December. It will be good through the new year.
