Or a good vegetarian meal that wouldn't look out of place on thanksgiving.

A freind of mine once ordered a tofu turkey. Looked like turkey.... Even tasted a bit like it, but oh BOY was the texture all wrong.

Remember though that Thanksgiving isn't about TURKEY. It's about friends, family and being happy for what you have. If you have a FAVORITE vegan food, have that.

What's wrong with a vegetarian meal? Just don't make it replace the turkey. So make the turkey for the omnivores and a vegetarian casserole for the vegetarians. I went to a thanksgiving supper a few years ago where there was an Indian lentil-rice casserole for the vegetarian. Whatever you make, try to include protein like lentils, beans, nuts, tofu, any one of them.

My husband is a vegetarian. At thanksgiving, he purely eats each and every thing except for the turkey. also, everybody is form sufficient to apply vegetable broths fairly of meat-depending broths even as recipes call for it (like for gravy and stuffing). in case you extremely must have some variety of meat replace, there is something said as a "Tofurkey" (a tofu turkey)...besides the undeniable fact that that is mediocre at best.

Any vegetarian meal will look out of place on Thanksgiving.
Just wait until the day after, remember, family should always come first, and you don't want to be the black sheep.

Another vote for Tofurky!

Last year I had spaghetti, minus the meat in the sauce. I don't think anyone will care what you serve, as long as it's tasty.
