You should still read the newspaper to stay informed. But you don't have to even buy a newspaper, you can go online and read newspapers. You could go to:
www.seattletimes.com
www.suntimes.com
www.nytimes.com

That was true of photography before the advent of digital photography...there is no gelatin involved in the production of digital pictures, which are mostly used in newspapers nowadays. Sadly a great deal of products do contain gelatin, and as a vegetarian I do my best to avoid such products. If you have a health store near you then you may be able to find Advil type products that are not in a gelatin capsule...we can get them here in the UK.

As a vegan myself, and like you I am always learning about stuff that contain animal products, or by-products. I think what you have to ask yourself two questions. Can you live without the product? Is there another product that you can replace it with, that is vegan friendly? If you say no to both these questions, then at least you are aware that there is animal suffering attached to this product and be compassionately grateful as you use the product.
The newspaper is kind of the same as riding in an automobile that is made with lots of animal byproducts. I try to use my bike, but in the winter I have to ride in a car. I am just grateful for the car and try to use it only when needed (good for the environment too).

It is shocking. There are so many things in this world that are secretly derived from using animal products. I consider myself a strict vegan but I have never heard of the newspaper issue. ANyway what i usually do is surf the net for the current events. I think you should probably do the research just to make sure.

touching it isn't near as gross as eating it.Don't buy leather or suede shoes. If your sick, then I guess you might have to take it.but newspapers don't have it,their photos are printed from ink,but photos that you have like ones proceesed at walgreens or walmart or whatever use gelatin for the film.I've only taken two aspirins in my whole life, that was before I was vegan,I never felt the need for them and I always believed that they were placebos because the time i used it it didn't help.So not unless you really really need them.

It's your personal preference. I think that a lot more things are made from gelatin that we know about. So it's kind of hard.

it doesn't matter whether some people think it is extreme or not. if that's your personal decision, then that should be fine. just go on the internet to find the news, i find i learn things faster on the internet than by reading the newspaper.

Do you eat jelly candy? Licorice? Marshmallows? Ice cream? Margarine? Yogurt? Grapes? Dried soup? Use glue? Play paintball? They all either contain gelatin or use gelatin in their processing.
And all capsules are made with gelatin. However, some use vegetable sources (not all gelatin is animal product).
