3 weeks ago I was diagnosed with Diabetes for the first time in my life.

My blood sugars were over 400, and I was hospitalized until they could be stabilized.

Now, they are in and around the 150 range.

My eyesight has been quite blurry since the beginning of this occurance.

Everybody tells me that my eyesight will return to normal.

How long does this take?

Follow the advice I took and things should return to normal shortly after getting your blood sugar stabilized. I actually had a couple of episodes where things went dark and blurry before getting diagnosed. Just get yourself on a serious health kick and you'll be fine in no time. You should find all you need to get started on my little diabetes info webpage...

Many factors influence the extent and length of your vision loss. One huge factor is how long your blood sugar was elevated before you sought treatment. Another factor is how well is your sugar controlled right now. Your age is a factor as well as which type of diabetes that you have. In other words, a lot more info is needed before an accurate answer can be given.

While it is true that many people diagnosed with diabetes do have a return of their vision, sometimes, the vision loss is permanent.

Diabetes is the leading cause of blindness in young people. Go see an ophthalmologist as soon as possible (if you haven't already). You will also want to have an eye exam every 6 months to a year.

Yeah I think so my eye sight has gotten worse, I experienced the exact same thing. Sometimes it bothers me more than others, but I just try to deal with it. Most people have told me to wait a couple months after I have the baby, because my eyesight will probably go back to normal.

For me and according to my doctor it takes a couple of days at least. Supossedly once your sugars return to a normalish range and if they can, your eyesight is the last thing to correct itself.
