Are they different in generalised and local fibrosis? I have searched the net and found paradoxical results! Some say resonant and vesicular while some say dull and bronchial!

Lung fibrosis can cause fine crackles - very different from the coarse crackles heard in pulmonary oedema, pneumonia or bronchitis.

The percussion note may be variable depending on how much air there is there, or how much scar/fibrosis/pleural plaque there is.

But the auscultation finding of the very fine crackles is typical and should clue you in on the lung fibrosis if you haven't found it out on history already.
