if there are any md's here, i am doing a research between the concordance of hpv-dna test results with their corresponding pap smear test results.

HPV test is a dichotomous variable (Pos? Neg?). Pap is also dichotomous (normal, abnormal). I'd use a Mantel-Haenszel chi square test.

But then I'd follow up with a Pearson and Spearman correlation between positive HPV result and Pap smear results. Choose the result depending on whether or not your test is parametric.

Since the results are non-contiguous, I'd use CHI SQUARED.
