I'm sure a 3 legged pig in the mud is just as happy as a 4 legged pig.

Actually, if we didn't kill the animal but just amputated parts to eat, I would BECOME a vegetarian.

I asked this question a few months ago, but it was in reference to an actual scientific process being developed by a vegetarian grad student. He takes a couple of muscle cells from a living cow and grows them in a nutrient rich broth; thin sheets of meat are created which can be peeled off the medium and ground up. The concensus I got was that most of us wouldn't. I can see the benefit for people who are on the fence, ethically, but are having a hard time making the sacrifice. But for me, it's a done deal. The gross out factor still plays in, as well.

And in your example, it would be a resounding NO! Maiming animals for food isn't any better then murdering them!

I guarentee you that a thee-legged pig in the mud who had had it's leg ripped off would not be just as happy as a four-legged pig, you know, cuz animals have this pesky habbit of feeling pain just as much as we do. If I had to chose, I would eat a dead animal over part of a perminantly crippled one any day.

No. I hate the smell and taste of decaying flesh. I would not eat meat under any circumstances. And don't you think that mutilated pig would be subjected to an awful lot of pain and suffering? Yeah, YOU could get around with one leg and a pair of crutches, but I bet you'd rather not.

What I discovered till now with my hatha yoga became that if i became going to attempt this I had to do it on my own and forget what others ought to assert about it. Even the vegetarians were given on my nerves. you should locate your own motives for eating or not eating meat. once you stay in an equilibrium of strict social complexities you more effective or a lot less have a habitat the position your habit can spread conveniently. replace or threaten that and consider were given a lot of social pressure and no one sees you as typical till you're decrease back contained in the fold in an attempt to assert. in case you belong to a meat eating order of beings and stay in among them you'll certainly undergo pressure and be subjected to any argument in want of your more effective perfect well being yet possibly not in accordance to what your new comprehend-how purports. and probably, like me, in basic terms did not income from the style of burnt meat after many years of prepare. ignore the diet component and nutrients component. in case you follow that you'll besides stay a meat eater. you'll struggle through all the end results of not eating meat although, possibly a actual shortage of supplementations and minerals because of the particular shown actuality that your body does not comprehend a thanks to extract those products from different factors or are depending on them. in any case, good luck.

Many of us are vegetarians not so much because of the killing of the animals but for health reasons. Also, industrial farming and the industrial agriculture needed to sustain such a great demand for meat is destroying our environment.

Ok, what about meat that does not come from an animal but it is created using artifical means. It would have the same texture and flavor of meat, but no animals were harmed in its making.

And also something to think about, just because a person is vegetarian does not mean that animals were not harmed to make their food. Many "pest animals" are killed so they do not harm the crops. Birds, mice, rats, raccoons, deer, squirrell.

I think taking a life is "wrong" except in extreme circumstances.....As well as like beef, poultry,exc.....It bothers me to sit on my a** and enjoy a meal when some animal had to give up it's life....
If the animal didn't have to die, I would be a meathead, and protein fool!

Silly! I am vegetarian because meat will not stay in my system. I discovered the only time I did not throw up after a meal was after a meal that was meat free. I have been meat free ever since. It has worked for me.

Great Question.

Scientists at the Agriculture Dept have now proven that it is much more humane to eat animals that it is fruits and vegetables.
They now know that every bite out of a peach, apple, or any other fruit, causes the fruit to scream in pain.
IT IS PAIN!!!!!!!!!
Same way with veggies.
PAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!
Be Humane. Eat only animals. They do not suffer like fruits and vegetables.
