Am looking for a step by step process on how to use dry ice in a punch bowl. Do I need to use a certain punch bowl (plastic, metal, glass?) Should I even add Dry Ice to a Punch Bowl?? What's the best Juice to use (Dark Reds or Greens)? I guess Food Coloring can help me there...Your Thoughts Please!!!

First of all - It is not dangerous if it is used in a punch bowl. Yes it it is touched or swallowed it is harmful. I am an adult and know to keep them from touching the contents of the bowl. I will be serving the punch as well as using a stringer so now bits of ice do fall in the cups. I won't be using pieces of ice to put into the bowl, It will be a brick size piece....Have some Common Sense people. All I asked if you have done this before, If you haven't DO NOT LEAVE ANY INPUT. Thanx!

for max spookiness put the ice in first and then the liquid. Be careful handling dry ice!!! Use glass or plastic, not metal. Pour the liquid over gradually.
I don't think that the color would matter too much.

I don't think you would have to use anything special. You may want to try it first to make sure it works. There should be no health risks unless someone swallows some dry ice. I don't think it will matter what color the punch is. The dry ice makes a white smoke-like cloud.

I would place the dry ice in a tub with water, place a screen over it and then set the punch bowl on the screen, allowing the vapors to float around the punch bowl and keeping the kids safe. Maybe drape some sort of netting around the dry ice tub (allowing the vapors to float up through the meshy material) Make sure the screen is sturdy enough to suppor the bowl filled with punch and tightly enough woven so that little fingers can't get through. Float some ice hands or heads in the punch for effect and that should do it. Freeze water in a face mask or rubber gloves for the floaters (of course you plug the holes and tie off the wrists).
ooops. already suggested. Have fun.

Dry ice is crystallized carbon dioxide most often used for long-term refrigeration. Touching it could result in burns.
Although dry ice is not toxic, it can cause severe burns and even frostbite, therefore it is advisable to avoid putting dry ice directly into a punch bowl where small pieces could be ladled into a cup and swallowed.
i wouldn't want that responsibility .

Putting it in the punch bowl is not a really safe plan. Especially with kids. You could however put dry ice into containers under the table and fill them with water. That would allow the mist to come out from under the table and roll around near the floor. You might also get away with putting it in a plastic "cauldron" near the punch. As for color of the punch...red is awesome. You can also get latex gloves, without powder, Fill with some of the punch and freeze them. You cut off the glove when it's solid and lay the "hands" in the bowl. It keeps it cold and looks gross. You could even put some fruit in it to make it look "chunky".

Ewwww. You don't like these kids???? Never use dry ice in a punch bowl. Why go through the trouble of getting dry ice? Why risk someone's health?

I have seen a glass bowl used. Just put the dry ice in and add the punch.

DO NOT DO THIS! TOO DANGEROUS!
Rent a smoke machine instead, ones that they use at discos.
Dry ice should go in a separate container NOT in a punch bowl. AWAY from little inquisitive hands. Avoid trips to the emergency room.
