oooo! I know! I love tempeh.
Here's my really easy and fast recipe. I think I'll make some tonight. Thanks for the idea! :)

1 pkg tempeh, cut in thin strips, then halved. It's okay if they break.
2-3 zuccinis, chopped
Several handfuls of mushrooms, sliced
oregano, thyme, garlic, basil, 1tsp each fresh or dried
1/3 cup lemon juice
veg oil

Fry the tempeh and zuccinis in oil. Add lemon juice once tempeh turns golden brown, and fry a bit longer to decrease moisture. Add everything else and fry until done.
Add salt and pepper to taste. mmmmm.
Serve over rice or noodles.

My absolute favorite way to have tempeh is on a salad. I cut the tempeh into chunks that are approximately 3/4 inch in size. I heat a cast iron skillet over medium heat. Cooking on cast iron is an excellent way for vegetarians and vegans to supplement their diets with iron. The food actually absorbs it from the pan! I grill the tempeh in olive oil (just enough to lightly cover the bottom of the pan, you can add more after if you need to), making sure that each side of each piece of tempeh is browned. I season them amply with freshly ground sea salt and pepper. Once all sides are browned and crispy you are ready to enjoy them instead of croutons on your salad. *SO* delicious!

I have had it in so many ways along with my other favorite TVP, it like tempeh is so versitile, I prefer slow cooked oriental recipes, ones with fresh or dried shittake mushrooms, Bok Choy or chinese cabbage. It is also good in Korean Cho dishes, with buckwheat noodles and lot of garlic, loaded with korean chili paste.

If you have a slow cooker it is great in any dish you can fix in it, as the longer you cook it the more the flavours blend and meld in to it.

so many things you can do with tempe!
spicy and sweet tempeh:
cut your tempes in small squares, put them in salt water for 15 minutes. heat the pan with 1 tablespoon of oil, fry a bit of chopped garlic/red onion/spring onion, you can choose. fry the tempeh and pour some sweet soya sauce or brown sugar. give salt, and pepper. Put some instant chilli sauce in a jar and cook all together.
good luck!
