Its painful to see all the misinformation on yahoo. HSV-1 and HSV-2 can infect ANYWHERE on the body. Herpes can go asymptomatic for weeks, months or even years. It is impossible to tell who or when you got infected. Clinics never test for Herpes on a routine checkup. Only in the event you have symptoms or specifically request a test, will one be done. More human beings have herpes than do not.

Does she have any red blistering bumps down there, yes herpes does burn when you urinate and yes you can get herpes when the other person has no symptoms. You can never get rid or herpes it stays with you for life, medication can calm outbreaks and symptoms but you will always be a carrier. She needs to see a Doctor as soon as possible to get a proper diagnosis.

Herpes is a bunch of small bumps on the outside of the genitals, which quickly develop pus, then break leaving open ulcer wounds. It is etremely painful and takes 3weeks to go away. It does not sound like your friend has herpes if she does not have these symptoms. However she may have clamidia, or gonorrhea, in any case she needs to get checked. Also for future reference, she needs to stay protected during sex.

A urinary tract infection would not normally cause problems with the vagina. Herpes Type II (aka genital herpes) would be obvious since there would be painful sores in the area. From what you describe I doubt it's that. Your friend should go to the doctor and get tested for STDs right away. If left untreated many STDs cause infertility.

Herpes or Urinary Tract infection or any type of infection that there is burning or vulgar itching will cause your vagina to swell. The problem with your friend is that she needs to go see a doctor. If she is having trouble walking she has waited to long and needs to be seen asap. It could be any of those things mentioned or it could be worse, whatever it is, its not normal so my advice to her is get treatment fast and my advice to you because you seem like a true friend, is make her go get herself checked out. I know some people like to wait around hoping it goes away, too scared to know the truth but in this case the truth is all she has. Good Luck!

It doesn't sound like herpes. It sounds like a UTI (urinary tract infection) or a bladder infection.
I have had genital herpes for almost 6 years now. It has a VERY distinctive pain. A lot of people experience flu like symptoms and muscle pains. I had both.
Also, it is very possible to get it from someone who has no signs or symptoms of the virus. I got the virus from a guy I had slept with ONE time. He wasn't having an outbreak or showing any signs of the virus at the time.
I also passed it to my fiance (boyfriend at the time) about 2 months into our relationship. I hadn't had an outbreak in almost 2 years and I STILL passed it to him. In fact, according to Valtrex, 70% of people with genital herpes got it from their partner when they were showing no signs or symptoms.

It could be either. Sounds like a UTI, but if that doesn't go away quickly, she needs to go to the doctor before she has a serious problem. Yes herpes is always contagious even if there is no visible outbreak. Go today.

Herpes can be gotten from someone infected, whether or not they have symptoms. Herpes causes painful sores on the labia minora and the labia majora, your friend probably does have a urinary tract infection, and likely also has a yeast infection. She needs to see a doctor for antibiotics.
