I know how you feel. When I moved into my apartment, it reeked of Indian spices because the tenants before me were Indian. I used Oust, and that seemed to get rid of it, and now I use this oil warmer and oils from Bath and Body works, that stuff is amazing, I burn it in one room, and the whole apartment smells wonderful. I highly recommend that and Oust.

You can just let them know and you can also get a two sided fan. This fan can circulate fresh air in and puts bad air out. Or you can set both sides to out, this way you are guaranteed getting the bad smells out.

This used to happen to me a few yrs ago when I lived next to a chinese couple. They had my house smelling like sushi, fish, chicken, just everything you can think of. So, I turned on the a/c and got a 2 sided fan, opened the doors, and had both sides set for out and it kept the smells out. You may get a little smell, but not as much as you have now.

i will include a fan link as a source, so you can see what I am talking about.

Awkward really. Nowadays if you complain you are a racist and if you don't you are a Muppet so what do you do. I had Indians live next door to me years ago and had no problems at all with anything like you have. In fact I made a jokey remark to the lady of the house one day about coming round for a curry later and within 5 minutes her husband had come round and invited both myself and my wife round for a meal and lovely it was too. We used to invite them round ours for meals too and it worked quite well. My rambling has not solved your problem but it's given an insight into what it could be like with a little give and take on both sides.

This is very understandable. You can ask your landlord to speak with the family however I do not think that will help and probably only cause tension. There is a device that I use in my hotel. It is called an ionizer. The cost is about $50.00 USD. And it will take any smell out of your apartment within 1/2hr. Hope this works.

Invite them for meals for everday till you move out, so they don't have to cook. Hee :) Or you can tell them nicely, you're allergic to those scent.. it makes you turn many shades of blue.

Just kidding. Really, there's nothing much you can do other than tolerate the scent, so what if your neighbors think its you.. let them. Maybe you can invite your other neighbors for a weekend meal, then an indirect conversation on what you normally cook will give them an idea who the culprit is next time a strooooooooooong yummy scent of spice lingers into their house :)

I love incense. I use it to cover odors from cooking, or just odor in general. Incense in not expensive. Maybe you could find a scent that you like, and it may overpower the smells coming from other areas. Remember women have a much greater sense of smell than men do, (or so I've been told, and read in studies.) Best of luck to you.

Try to go inside the house on the OTHER side & see if that house smells too. If it doesn't, ask that neighbor what they use to keep their house so fresh smelling. Also, yes, Oust is a great idea ,also how about the Glade Scented Oil candles?

I LOVE Indian food, ask them to share some of that great food with you!! :)

Not an answer, just another question. Do you know that Europeans smell absolutely disgusting to most Chinese? It's because of the dairy products we consume. We smell like rotten milk. Thought you might like to know.

Tell me about it - I used to live next to someone where all I could smell was pig's liver and lamb's kidney (which I must say smelt a tad bit like urine...I wonder why??) and the stale smell of oil in which various things would be fried and re-fried. Life is so unfair, isnt it?
