If you are "always" using your rescue inhaler, your asthma is not under control and this can be very dangerous, especially with chronic bronchitis as well. You need to see a pulmonary specialist as soon as humanly possible and get treatment that gives your real control over your disease.
You should be using a peak flow meter several times a day and documenting the results. If no one has instructed you in this basic, you aren't getting adequate care and need a different caregiver as well. Often you will see your numbers dropping while you are still feeling fine and you can prevent or lessen attacks before they happen.
If you have to use an inhaler several times a day, whatever therapy you are on is simply not effective. You may need to add other inhalers, nebulizers, steroids and other medications to get good control. and may need to change things in your environment as well.
Asthma is not just a nuisance. One bad attack can kill you, so please call a doctor as soon as possible.
My asthma, by the way, wasn't diagnosed until my 40's. It took a good pulmonologist to find a program that works and I have not had a severe attack in years. So yes, you can control the illness. Some pro athletes have asthma.

What test have you had done to diagnose your asthma? Asthma is often misdiagnosed, there are several things that memic ashma, almost to a tee.
Have you seen a pulmonologist, that is the best route to go if your asthma seems to not get any better by taking your inhalers. A pulmonologist can look at a PFT (Pulmonary Function Test) and determine if you may have a disorder called VCD (Vocal Cord Dysfunction, by the flow loops when you are blowing out. If they suspect this the next step is to have a test done called a methocholine challenge.
If this test will show for sure if you have true asthma. Asthma is not something that can be kicked it can only be controlled. There are a wide variety of medications out there to treat asthma, from short to long term bronchodialators, to corticosteriods, there is a huge list sometimes it is finding the proper combination of these medications to control your asthma. I would suggest seeing a board certified pulmonologist in your area and having your asthma/chronic bronchitis re-evaluated.
Best of Luck,

I feel your pain. I've had asthma for 14 years now and have seen several doctors. The truth is, there is no known cure for asthma at the moment. But the symptoms can be prevented. It really depends on what causes your brother's asthma. Mine is usually dust and hot weather. But I think the universal method is using the control inhaler.
I cured my Asthma the natural way?

Read the sections on asthma in Murray & Pizzorno's Encyclopedia of Natural Medicine, and in Balch & Stengler's Prescription For Natural Cures. They are full of excellent expert discussion of the condtions you describe and offer a huge amount of good advice. Let's Get Well, by Adelle Davis, is also good.
Good luck!
