Look, my family most use the spoon. But, me and my brothers know how to use the fork, knife, dessert spoon while dinning. My father always says that he cannot eat with the fork and I don't know what kind of persons use the fork.

It is fine if you can use the spoon, fork and knife the way they are supposed to be used as per the etiquette. Some prefer to use them the perfect way, others prefer to use them as per their convenience. It is not a previlege but an individual choice and depends on the occasion and need.

Hard to pick up certain foods with a spoon. Some things need to poked and held on by sharp points. When I was kid, I never used a knife to cut my meat it was only until boyfriend humiliated me and showed me the "proper" way to cut a piece of meat in restaurant then I knew I wish I had better training growing up. A fork and knife is very important in eating steak.

That has to be the craziest thing I've ever heard. If you can eat with a spoon, you can eat with a fork because it's held exactly the same way.

I wouldn't consider it a priviledge to eat with a fork. Apart from that, Americans have the annoying habit of switching the fork from their left hand to their right after cutting something. Why bother? And it looks clumsy.

Your father is been slightly ignorant. He could use one if he tried. Just ignore him. It is good manners and etiquette to use all three utensils when eating. Carry on Mcduff. Your doing just fine.
