About these shrooms I found...?

Question

I found what appear to be a species of 'fly agaric' mushrooms on a recent camping trip in So. Illinois at Dixon springs. What I need to know, that no one can seem to tell me is....How do I know if they're poisonous or not...I mean, all psychedelic mushrooms are a little toxic or they wouldn't be psychedelic. But some mushrooms are so toxic that they can kill you...I want a good trip, but nothing that intense (hahahaha!!!), so HOW CAN I TELL IF A MUSHROOM IS SO TOXIC THAT IT WILL KILL ME IF I INGEST IT? This is a serious question and I'd appreciate it if all the nay-sayer and anti-drug preachers would keep their opinions to themselves...I need this information for personal reasons..

Indeed, the 'trippy' effect you feel is a mild form of poisoning, just as drunkenness is a form of poisoning through alcohol.

The most well known mushrooms of the hallucinogenic types (magic mushrooms) have long, thin stalks, and have a rounded top, pointed at the very top. They are from the Strophariaceae family from the genus Psilocybe.

Fly agaric mushrooms, I believe, are deadly poisonous if you eat too much, but do have hallucinogenic effects. They are easily recognised from their bright traditional toadstool appearance.

Of course, all hallucinogenic mushrooms are poisonous if you have too much. And preparing them in any way is illegal, but everyone knows that anyway.

If I were you, I'd stick to Coconut Mushrooms (rather yummy sweets; the only type of mushrooms I like! :D )

short of testing it on someone else, i'd say call ur county agricultural dept and make an appointment to take them down and show them. they can tell u what u want to know

I have never tried these shrooms and wouldnt.
People say they should look like nipples
Dont know what nipples look like and would'nt risk any I found
