When people talk about herpes they are usually either talking about cold sores which appear on the lips and mouth area, or they are talking about genital herpes, which affects the genital area. There are currently 8 different kinds of the herpes simplex virus, which inlcluds chickenpox (herpes simplex virus 3), but cold sores and genital herpes are the most common.
Genital herpes (typically herpes simplex virus 2) is spread by sex (vaginal, oral, and anal) and by direct skin to skin contact with the genital area (like "dry humping"). A newborn can also be born with it, but this is REALLY rare.
Cold sores (typically herpes simplex virus 1) is most commonly spread by being kissed by someone who has cold sores. Cold sores are VERY common. I have read about 75-80% of the world has them. A person can also get cold sores by sharing a drink with someone who has them, sharing chapstick, lipstick, even cigarettes. Basically almost anything the person with cold sores has had their lips or mouth on.
The primary outbreak of genital herpes tends to last longer and be more severe than subsequent (recurrent) outbreaks. Symptoms of a primary outbreak may include:
* Flulike symptoms, such as fever, headache, and muscle aches. These symptoms usually get better within a week.
* Tingling, burning, itching, and redness at the site where an outbreak is about to occur (prodrome).
* Painful, itchy blisters on the penis, on the vulva, or inside the vagina. Blisters may also appear on the anus, buttocks, thighs, or scrotum, either alone or in clusters. They may be barely noticeable or as large as a coin.
* Blisters that break and become shallow, painful, oozing sores.
* Swollen and tender lymph nodes in the groin.
* Painful urination.
* Abnormal vaginal or urethral discharge.

Cold sores are blisters on the lips and edge of the mouth that are caused by an infection with the herpes simplex virus (HSV). Cold sore blisters usually break open, weep clear fluid, and then crust over and disappear after a few days. Other symptoms may include:
* Sore mouth that makes eating, drinking, and sleeping uncomfortable. Cold sores can be painful.
* Fever.
* Sore throat.
* Swollen lymph nodes in the neck.
* Drooling in small children.

If you have herpes you have it for the rest of your life, it is a virus. Herpes is passed from skin to skin contact. The virus is present in the sores. The virus can be transmitted when a sore comes into contact with a mucous membrane--genitals, mouth and/or eyes. When sores are present people should abstain and not allow their sores to touch their partners at any location, the virus is easily spread when sores are present. When sores are not present it is still possible to pass the virus, but the risk is very low, this is why partners should always practice safer sex by using condoms with every intercourse. I'm unclear by what you said. The only way to test for herpes is when sores are present. those sores are cultured. So, how did you get diagnosed with herpes if you did not have any sores? Also, herpes type 1 and herpes type 2 can be located in either the genitals or the mouth and vice versa, so where do you have herpes? You should talk with your health care provider to clarify and ask questions. If you do indeed have genital herpes you should abstain when you have sores, wear condoms with all intercourse and tell all your partners prior to becoming intimate. If you have oral herpes you should not preform oral sex on someone when you have oral sores, you can give someone genital herpes this way.

Usually sores that itch and/or burn around the eyes, in the mouth, or in the genital area. If someone has oral herpes, you can contract it by kissing, or sharing a glass or eating utensil. Herpes of the eye is usually caused by touching your genitals or someone elses and then touching your face. Oral herpes and herpes of the eyes are both caused by the Herpes Simplex 1 virus. Genital herpes is usually spread through intecourse, and is caused by the Herpes Simplex 2 virus. There is no cure for herpes, but there are medications to reduce the symptoms. Herpes is HIGHLY contagious. Talk to your doctor about this. I do hope this helps.

Genital herpes:
A common infection caused by the herpes simplex virus type 2 or type 1.
Type 1 is commonly acquired through oral sex, while type 2 is transmitted through sexual intercourse.
Symptoms include small blisters in the genital area which rapidly break down to leave painful ulcers.
Other symptoms include pain or difficulty in passing urine. Some patients may develop headache and fever.
Herpes infection during late pregnancy is potentially dangerous to the baby during labour.
Herpes is a life-long chronic condition which cannot be cured.
However, there are antiviral drugs available which can reduce the severity of symptoms.
Please see the webpages for more details and images on Herpes simplex.

Herpes can be in the form of a cold sore, chicken pox or the sexual contact. If you happen to get oral sex from someone with a cold sore on their lip then you can get herpes. Herpes is an STD that is incurable and you can get it or give it to someone even though you do not have an outbreak at that time or symptoms. Once you even get a cold sore on your lip you will always get them

I got diagnosed with genital herpes (type 2) about 7 yrs ago, while I was still in college and had a dumb one-night stand. I know loads of young ladies will declare this, but I swear I had never done that sort of thing before. I just made a mistake that one time and suddenly I felt like I was going to have to live with the implications for the rest of my life. The hardest part was feeling I could never date men again. In the end, who wants to go out with someone that has sores round her you-know-what? But since a friend shared this video https://tr.im/2LyBk everything changed.
Not only was I able to eliminate all traces of the hsv from my body in less than 3 weeks, but I was also able to start dating again. I even met the guy of my dreams and I'm so fortunate to write that just a week ago, in front of everybody in a busy restaurant, he got down on one knee and proposed to me! This system provided the chance to be happy and experience real love. Now I want to enable you too by sharing this with the whole World.
