Francesca - I had the same problem with crows in my old corn field. I found that using visual deterrents were very efficient.
Begin using deterrents at the first signs of damage. Bright, flashy objects like pie tins and Mylar party balloons can be very effective. Check your local garden store for reflective Mylar tape that can also be useful to deter crows.

Use a scarecrow...( and for more effect, make a voice recodring of someonelaughing really loud ) and then get the tape to Repeat over and over and over again.... then put the tape with the scarecorw...turn up the volume..and enjoy the fact that you have saved your corn

Don't open the tins when they are around, that way they won't smell the sweetcorn and so not know that you have any in your cupboard!

I would have said use a scarecrow....but after looking at your avatar, I say why don't you just stand out there and wave your hands!
Seriously, plastic snakes. Birds HATE snakes. Just put a few out there on TOP of the corn.

I misread the question.
Sorry, i'll go away now.

I don't keep crows off of your sweet corn. I actually encourage them to hang out on your sweet corn.

the easiest way and cheapest way is an electric fence. They do work. Farm supply places should have the units for sale.
