you need to use foods that can stand high temperatures and will cook quickly. it works best if your items have similar sizes because then they will cook at even paces. traditional stir fry ingredients are: garlic, ginger, sweet pea pods, broccoli, corn, bak choy, shrimp, thinly sliced beef, red pepper flakes, pork, chicken, cauliflower, soy sauce and some corn starch to help thicken and create a sauce.

and rice will almost never be included in a stir fry..only in fried rice. but in fried rice..people generally add it later on because the rice will tend to stick. Same with noodles depending on what kind. Rice noodles will stick more because they are naturally dry and thinner. Flour and egg noodles may be added in the middle or at the end of the cooking process.

the ingredients are not what's really important in stir frying, its the way they are cut and prepared. things that cook fast should be in larger pieces and slower more dense food need to be cut finer. ie.
cabbage large
carrots small

I think peas in the pod onions & garlic (fresh). you can also buy stir fry veggies, frozen, mixed already all you do is add whatever meat I still add onion & garlic &: maybe some bean sprouts

Celery and carrots for a crunch. Shrimp and cashew nuts for something different. Onions for added flavour. Capsicums for colour.

Beef w/ Green Onions (or Leeks or Onions) and Oyster Sauce.

i noticed nobody has put spices yet. minced garlic, hoisin sause, oyster sause, soy sauce of course, black beens, ketchup believe it or not, vinegar, sugar, sesame oil, corn starch.
